Historical Information

The following information summarises the skills, knowledge and experience acquired in over fifteen years in military electronics and the aerospace industry, perhaps better described as "hysterical information". This is how and why the company formed. I'm not into office politics or waiting around for the office politicians to stick it to the workforce. I just want to get the job done and done the right way.

Background

From leaving college with a BSc in Electronic Engineering, I worked in the Quality Assurance Department, designing production test equipment, for Thorn EMI Ltd. (Radar Division). I moved on to British Aerospace (Dynamics), Lostock (near Bolton in the North of England), working in the Services to Production/Post Design Service Department analysing problems on the production line and liaising with the equipment design engineers. During the early years of cutbacks on the Government Defence Budget engineers within the department were moved onto the few projects with funding. I was moved into the Test Gear Design Department designing production and services test equipment for a reconnaissence system, leading into the design of a "cut down" variant of the prime equipment.

It was at this time that the recession started to take hold (1990) and I chose to "get on my bike", the catch phrase of the period, and take a leap of faith into the world of contracting. I spent the first two years as a subcontractor working on the Electrical Power Generation System of Eurofighter for British Aerospace Military Aircraft (Warton), a systems/equipment engineering role.

Then came a six month break (in Life Insurance for goodness sake) before a nine month job for Short Brothers in Belfast, on the electrical parts of the an aircraft fuel system.

At the end of the Shorts contract I was out of work with nothing on the horizon, so I went back to college to learn some new skills. I studied for an MSc in Digital Signal Processing Applications and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma (because I never did get round to finishing my disertation). A little C/C++ Programming plus the mathematics, instrumentation, physics, microprocessors that were required.

Following the college course, I started back at British Aerospace working on export equipment for Tornado for twelve months. At the end of this contract i worked for Westland Helicopters, Yeovil, on the Cockpit Displays for EH101 (Merlin - the Sea King replacement).

I have now just finished a four year stint back at, .............   you guessed it, British Aerospace Military Aircraft (Warton), now renamed BAE Systems, working on the final phase of development of the Eurofighter (Typhoon) Electrical Power Generation System .

With nothing much else to do, right at this minute, I thought I'd better put a web site together. OK, it's not great, but then aircraft engineering and web pages are on different tracks.

Contructive criticisms will be welcomed, abuse will be either ignored or returned, if I'm in the mood!
