MembershipsIn years past, the subcontractor market consisted of individuals, each working to better themselves whilst providing necessary services to the client companies. Those days are now gone, as a direct result of punitive, spiteful action by the "New Labour" Government (1997 - 2001?). Their sole intention appears to be to force "employers" to be "employers of all" and the "sole trader" or "consultant company" to become an "employee" of the hiring company, which works directly against the policy of a "flexible workforce". As the CBI represents large corporations and the TUC represents the employees, we in the subcontracting sector of industry needed a representative body to voice our sectors needs to Government. S.K. Engineering Services Limited is a member of both the Professional Contractors Group (PCG), our industry sector representative lobby group, and the Federation of Small Business (FSB), the body representing small enterprises within the United Kingdom. Both of these organisations provide welcome support to our sector of industry, each from a different platform.
